Gulf Shores is located in a vacation resort area and consists mainly of beach homes and beach condos.
The waters are emerald green and the sand is sugar white. There are lots of great seafood restaurants featuring locally caught seafood and many establishments that cater to tourists. There are four distinct tourist seasons - the spring break season, summer vacation season, the back to school season, and the snow bird season. Condos are very popular with most of the beach houses foundWest of Gulf Shores on West Beach Blvd.

Orange Beach is very similar to Gulf Shores with it's beach front properties.
The bonus to Orange Beach is Perdido Pass which is the inlet to Perdido Bay. Perdido Bay connects with Cotton Bayou, Terry Cove, Arnica Bay, Wolf Bay, Soldier Creek, and several other waterways which surround Orange Beach with water. The Inter Coastal Waterway connects Perdido Bay with Bon Secour and Mobile Bay to the West and Pensacola Bay to the East. All of these interconnected waterways make Orange Beach very popular with boaters and fishermen. Bay front and canal front condos and homes are very popular here for that reason and add a little more than the standard beach front ammenities. Perdido Pass also includes the public islands - Robinson Island and Bird Island that are very popular with the boaters on the weekend. There is also a very substantial Fishing Charter Boat presence here and the coastal waters offshore contain many artificial reefs (reportedly one of the largest artificial reef efforts in the world) that can be counted on to provide great fishing.

Ono Island is an island subdivision with gated entry that lends itself to privacy and security.
There are many high end luxury homes on Ono Island and many of those include boating facilitiy docks and slips either on the bay or interior canals and waterways.
Fort Morgan is a very narrow peninsula that extends West from Gulf Shores.
The Gulf of Mexico to the South and Bon Secour and Mobile Bay to the North. At the terminus of the peninsula is an actual fort named Fort Morgan. The facility guarded the mouth of Mobile Bay and is open for touring. There is a ferry that shuttles traffic from the fort area across Mobile Bay to Dauphin Island (be sure to check schedules in off season). Fort Morgan hosts mostly beach houses, but there are some nice condos in the area on the beach and on the bay, most notable would be the Beach Club facilities that are quite nice. Fort Morgan Condos are less plentiful than in Gulf Shores and Orange Beach, but there are many beach houses in the area.
